Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, tenth world player, took away in Melbourne the first match in five sets of his career to qualify himself for the quarterfinals of Open of Australia, for the third time in a row. The Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga qualified himself for the quarterfinals of Open of Australia by beating the Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in five sets.  The Frenchman beat in 3:33 hours, Nicolas Almagro, but the Spaniard is not spent far from knocking down a situation nevertheless very compromised after the loss of the first two sleeves in a little more than one hour.
